Family Simsek built this year 2 tents for our movie production. As the tent building was huge fun for them, furthermore an opportunity to teach their children their tradition and in addition a good income, they would love to build another two tents in the year 2008. Anybody, who is interested, can apply for a tent now. There is the possibility for the buyer to visit the families while building happens. This is very much welcomed. Approx. costs of one tent: 1.400,-€ + 600,-€ Transport to Austria. Other destinations can be calculated on demand. We are featuring Fair Trade to the tent builders and transparent costs to the buyer. Please note, that this is a handicraft product which can only be performed when the family is fine. In case of illness of a family member or other bad circumstances, a tent building can be denied or delayed. In this case, the buyer gets the money back, of course. The production of each tent is led by the elders of the Yoruk family who have learnt the craft of traditional tent making. As this craft dies out nowadays, each new tent develops the new chance for the young generations to learn about the craft. Grandma Elden, one of the last who know about it, made this tent (as seen in the picture below) for her first time in 30 years. Actually, by the production of the black tent movie, the families started to revive their tradition. As for now, everyone who asks for a tent, is very much welcomed by them and by our research institute. By this, we hope that the old culture survives one more generation.

Whoever wants to import a black tent or a canvas, gets this chance by our research insitute. As this product is dependant on seasons and capacity by the nomads, we ask our clients for patience regarding the difficulties of handicraft work which needs its dear time. In general, delivery can be done within 2-4 months. In exchange, we offer you an original and individual traditional product based on the terms on "Fair Trade" and "Ecological Care".
